Iron Horse MS CJSF The second semester membership drive for California Junior Scholarship Federation continues through this Friday, February 12^th. A copy of the application and information may be downloaded from ih.schoolloop.com. CJSF is open to 7^th and 8^th graders. Valentine Grams Valentine Gram Sales continue through Thursday, February 11^th or until sold out! Buy your gram during break or lunch in front of the CMR. Remember to placer the recipient’s first and last name, along with their 8^th period class or teacher on the back. Deposit grams in the Valentine Box located in the CMR or front office. Read ! Read ! Read with the San Ramon Valley Ed Fund continues through the month of February. Help us with $1,000 for our library by recording your reading on the forms available in the library or from your Advisory Teacher. The Advisory that reads the most minutes wins a yogurt party from Yogurtland! Individual prizes will be awarded for pledge money turned in. Your Advisory’s Leadership representative will collect money on Mondays and Fridays this month. She’s All That (at California High School) – This Saturday! This is an annual conference for middle school girls – focused on their needs, issues, concerns, and interests. Hosted by our local Soroptimist, this is an adult lead conference for girls. The event is this Saturday, February 6^th at California High School. Pre-registration is required. You may register immediately. Pick up a flyer in the main office or go to http://www.soroptimist-sr.org/SAT2009form.html for more information. Youth-2-Youth This is an annual conference for middle school boys & girls! The Y2Y Conference is staffed by 100 local high school students who have been trained to facilitate small groups (family groups) of 8-12 students. This event is Saturday March 13^th. THIS WEEK AND UPCOMING EVENTS - Science Fair Club will meet again on Tuesday February 16^th from 3-4:00 pm in the Iron Horse Library and on the first & third Tuesdays of each month. The Tri-Valley Science & Engineering Fairis scheduled for March 30-April 2. All 7^th & 8^th graders are welcome. - Computer Club will meet again on Tuesday, February 9^th in PT-11 from 2:45-3:45 PM.. Computer Club meets every other Tuesday. Check Schoolloops for details. Teen Activity Group: Quest (formerly TAG) is a weekly teen support group offered at Iron Horse. The group meets on Thursdays from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in Room 200 and is open to all students. This group is free to participate. During the group, participants will discuss current issues, engage in recreational activities and games and have refreshments. The groups are co-led by a Recreation Leader and the Youth Resource Officer. Quest has started. Check it out! After-School Study Club: Study Club will meet Tuesday, 2/9 in Room 102 and Thursday, 2/11 in Room 105 from 3:00-3:45. Students should come prepared with materials to work, study, or read quietly

Registration begins on Monday, March 1^st on-line @ www.SANRAMONSOCCER.org. You can sign up for Winter Warm Ups starting January 4^th (they are free) and Try-Outs begin February 1^st. Practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and there will be 2 sessions, an early one at 3-4:00 and a late one at 4-5:00. The season ends in April. Wrestlers may attend both practices or just one.
