During-School Activities

IHMS offers a variety of during-school activities.  Most activities re geared to satisfy students’ desire to increase in knowledge, skill and interest.  Below are just a few of the many activities IHMS offers:

Geography Bee - Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography.

Spelling Bee

Civil War Day

Hello Day - This is a day where students find someone who has the same initials or the same birthday within 2 days of each other. They come together to the MPR at break for a prize. It is a great way to meet new students.

Variety Show - This is a school wide talent show. This year we will do it a little differently. It will be one show with some 6th, 7th, and 8th grade acts. Try outs will be in April.

Red Ribbon Week - Americans began wearing red ribbons in 1988 to honor the memory of U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Enrique Camarena, who lost his life in 1985 in the war against drugs. Today, red ribbons worn during the last week of October, designated Red Ribbon Week, signify that the wearer will do his/her part in the fight to rid America of drugs.
